The Witcher 3 finally gets PS4 Pro support with 4K update

Last month, I reported that during the CD Projekt RED financial results video, the developer announced a 4K update for their RPG masterpiece, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, on the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X.

Now, without any hype or build-up, The Witcher 3’s PS4 Pro update has arrived. Update 1.50 weighs in at 20GB in size and a small 1.51 update released a few hours later fixes some stability issues.

In a short announcement post, CD Projekt RED described the update as:

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has just received an upgrade patch, enabling the game to take advantage of the additional power offered by the PS4 Pro system.

When playing the game on a PS4™ Pro system, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and all its additional content feature support for 4K resolution and a slight boost to performance.” – Source

Well, I guess it’s time to start playing The Witcher 3 again for PS4 Pro owners, I know I will this weekend. The game was already gorgeous, so the 4K update and a small performance boost will be a feast for the eyes.

My colleague Marco reviewed the Game of the Year Edition last year in September, calling it “Almost Flawless”. I have to agree, it is, without a doubt, one of the best RPGs ever created and it will surely suck another hundred or so hours out of our lives now that the 4K update is out.

It goes without saying that those who haven’t played The Witcher 3 yet and do own a PS4 Pro, should buy the game, download the update and experience Geralt’s final monster-hunting escapades right now in 4K.

Do you own a PS4 Pro and will you be playing The Witcher 3 in 4K? Let us know in the comment section below.
