If you are tired of your DualShock 4 and are looking for something new to hold then you are in luck. Sony just announced a new range of controllers coming to the PS4. While these controllers are not designed by Sony themselves, they are all officially licensed so expect the quality to be on point with Sony's standards. The three new controllers include a mini gamepad, a new version of the awesome Nacon Controller, and wired compact controller.
Nacon Wired Compact Controller
Last year I reviewed the first generation Nacon Controller and loved it, but there were some issues like the screw-on wired and the bland colour of the controller. Well, Nacon has listened and they have changed the wire to a USB Type-C connection, as well as increased the wire length to 3 meters, up from 2 meters. They are also planning on releasing a series of striking coloured controllers and some translucent ones too. These clear ones sure look awesome and the chips inside of them are all colour-coded with additional LED lights inside to give you a brighter look and feel.
@Play Wired Compact Controller
The @Play Wired Compact Controller is nothing groundbreaking but it will serve its purpose as a decent DualShock replacement if you are in the market for a new one. The controller will come in four different colours and feature all the bells and whistles you would find in the original DualShock 4 including a touchpad, headset jack, vibrators and a 3-meter cable.
HORI Mini Gamepad
Last but not least is the HORI Mini Gamepad. This controller kind of looks like something from the classic SNES days and there is a reason why. This retro-inspired controller packs a range of easily accessible core controls, touchpad button, a 3-meter cable, and is ideally made for a younger audience of gamers who have smaller hands. The controller will come in three colours and give the kids their own unique controller that will fit perfectly in their hands.
While no local release date has been set for these new controllers, Hori, and Nacon have all been sold in SA before so we will probably see the controllers land in SA before Christmas. Which one is your favourite? Lets us know in the comments below.
