God’s Trigger is Techland’s new game and it looks fantastic

Techland has quickly become one of my favourite developer/publisher with their stance on DLCs in Dying Light. At gamescom, Techland has now announced their next game and it is called God’s Trigger.

The game is a cooperative top-down shooter that looks extremely exciting to play and will release in early 2018 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. From the reveal trailer (which you can view at the bottom of this article), it shows that the game has the same top-down camera angle as that of Hotline Miami.

In God’s Trigger, players will take on the Four Horsemen of the apocalypse. Death, War, Famine and Pestilence, as well as their henchmen, are the enemies of the unlikely “heroes”. Players will be able to control either Harry, a “righteous soldier from heaven who dare defy his superiors” and Judy, “an escapee from hell desperately trying to redeem her sins”.

Their goal is, of course, to stop the apocalypse. Harry and Judy will attempt to do so by decimating their foes with swords, guns and even supernatural abilities. We can also see in the trailer that characters gain XP, so there will very likely be some kind of skill tree and the ability to increase a character’s strength.

The game’s official description merely reads:

“Get ready for a bloodbath of apocalyptic proportions in the new co-op action game, God’s Trigger. God’s Trigger takes co-op teamwork to a completely new level as it throws together the odd-couple of an Angel and a Demoness, who must work together to defeat the Four Horsemen before they destroy all life on Earth.”

Another bit of information we can gather from the video is that the game uses a cel-shaded graphical style which you might already know and love from Telltale’s titles or Borderlands.

Check out the reveal trailer below and then tell us what you think about the game’s premise, characters and over-the-top gameplay in the comment section.
