The Walking Dead: The Final Season rises again on January 15 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. In October, Robert Kirkman, co-creator of The Walking Dead comic book series and co-founder of Skybound Entertainment announced that they would be taking over development of the final episodes of Season 4. But then things went dark until mid-November when news broke of Telltale’s liquidation and Steam’s subsequent removal of some Telltale games from the storefront, including The Walking Dead series.
Skybound announced over the weekend that The Walking Dead: Final Season will continue, with Episode 3: Broken Toys set to release on 15 January 2019. However, the official website only lists the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch – what happened to the PC release? Skybound also released a new trailer for Broken Toys, stating that all previous seasons and episodes are again available for download on their respective platforms – but details about the PC version seems to be unclear as Skybound refers PC players to Steam for “details” and doesn’t list PC under the “Buy Now” section on the website.
The Walking Dead: The Final Season consists of four episodes, and while Steam again lists all the previous Seasons and episodes, only the demo for the final season is currently available for download. Episode three will most probably get activated on Steam, as at the time of writing it is also missing from the local PlayStation and Nintendo Stores. Xbox One owners are in luck as they can now purchase all four episodes (Season Pass) of The Walking Dead: The Final Season via the Microsoft Store.
Episode two. “Suffer the Children” saw Clementine and AJ depart from Ericson to find a new home. They ran into someone from Clem’s past, who turned out to be more foe than friend. Help arrived from an unexpected corner as a former Whisperer (those who disguise themselves as Zombies) ensured their safe arrival back to the school. There they helped a group of students during against a raider attack. The official description on Skybound’s website for the final season states:
After years on the road facing threats both living and dead, a secluded school might finally be Clementine’s chance for a home. But protecting it will mean sacrifice. In this gripping, emotional final season, your choices will define your relationships and determine how Clementine’s story ends.
The journey continues on January 15. If you pre-purchased the Season pass then all episode should become available automatically.
