Robert Kirkman, co-creator of The Walking Dead comic book series and co-founder of Skybound Entertainment, announced over the weekend that they are taking over Telltale’s final season of The Walking Dead.
When Telltale’s TWD released in April 2012, it took the gaming industry by storm. Everyone talked about it, and everyone loved it. We bonded with Lee, Clem, and their band of survivors as they navigated through the Zombie apocalypse. There was something magical about the series; especially when it came to player choice. I remember second-guessing my decisions, and how my Twitter feed buzzed with people sharing their experiences. We couldn’t wait to play episode after episode, and Telltale suddenly found themselves the darling of fans and industry people alike.
It, therefore, came as a big shock when Telltale announced last month that the studio is closing down. Then followed the news that they would finish the final season of The Walking Dead, but not everyone was happy.
Skybound Entertainment steps in to finish The Walking Dead
We couldn’t have asked for a better partner to finish The Walking Dead than Skybound Entertainment, as they’ve been involved with the series since its inception.
Kirkman announced the news during The Walking Dead New York Comic Con 2018 panel.
We’ve successfully negotiated with Telltale Games for our company Skybound to come in and see Season 4 of the Telltale game to completion. We can’t lose Andrew Lincoln and Clementine in the same year.
Skybound will be working with members of the original Telltale team on the final season.

We’ve had three amazing seasons of Telltale’s The Walking Dead, and it would’ve been a loss if we didn’t see the conclusion of Clementine’s story. She is, without a doubt, one of gaming’s most beloved and admired characters.
