With the new RTX cards being the hottest tech on the market at the moment, there is no doubt that in the coming months some new CPUs will arrive to further boost gaming and rendering performance in the industry. AMD’s chips always leak and the latest AMD Zen 2 seems no different.
According to new information regarding the Zen 2 CPU, this third-generation Ryzen chip will feature 8 cores and 16 threads with the base clock of 4GHz and a boost clock speed of 4.5GHz. The information comes from a forum member at HarcOCP that details this new 7nm chip. While it is still a bit too early to say for sure if this information is correct, the sample chip testers received is real and very powerful.
The forum goes on to detail the experience with this sample Zen 2 CPU and the results show a very powerful, yet unstable chip. According to the tester, a lot of crashing occurred during tests as well as inaccurate results which are expected. The tests also show that the Zen 2 is pretty close to Intel’s i7-8700K in terms of performance, which we could see overtake Intel’s CPU as it is just a 3.7GHz chip compared to this Zen 2 which supposedly boasts a base clock o 4.0GHz.
AMD will no doubt reveal these news CPUs in the coming months as testing irons out issues and other bugs.
