Sony First-Party Multiplayer Games Could Come to Other Platforms

Sony first-party multiplayer games

One of the best things about the PS4 is its first-party games developed by studios that belong to Sony. It is those exclusives that really sell consoles and fans, including myself, just love them. It is also a bit sad that those who have, for example, a gaming PC, can’t experience these Sony first-party titles, but that might change in the future. It looks like this is specifically for multiplayer games

Sony Worldwide Studios’ chairman, Shawn Layden, has indicated that Sony first-party games, specifically those focused on multiplayer, could come to other platforms in the future. After the recent Insomniac acquisition by Sony, bringing the Marvel’s Spider-Man creator into the fold, Mr Layden spoke to Bloomberg, first making it clear that Sony is still committed to PlayStation exclusives.

Shawn Layden explained that:

We must support the PlayStation platform – that is non-negotiable. That said, you will see in the future some titles coming out of my collection of studios which may need to lean into a wider installed base.

With that being said, Xbox One owners definitely shouldn’t hold their breath, as a wider installed base could definitely mean PC, while the titles remain a PlayStation console exclusive. This comes just after the PlayStation exclusive label was brought back onto Death Stranding, confusing gamers around the world. Interestingly, a Sony Interactive Entertainment published title, Readyset Heroes, recently got an Epic Games Store page as well.
