Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is “Extremely Difficult” According to Game Director

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Those of you who are looking forward to die and die again in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be happy to know that the game is “extremely difficult”. Speaking at the Tapei Gameshow 2019, Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed some new information about the upcoming From Software game and we cannot wait to get our hands on it.

When discussing the new resurrection system, it sees the player respawn at the place they died using something called Kaisei. When asked if there is any penalty for this resurrection, Miyazaki responded;

We haven’t included major penalties in the Kaisei system itself. This game is an extremely difficult one. In the fights between ninjas as we imagine it, there will always be the risk of death and players will be sitting at the edge of their seat each time and go from one thrilling fight to the next, so in order to realize this, we ended with a game in which players die a lot (laughs).

If you die too often, the tempo of the game gets bad. Because you cannot maintain an appropriate tempo if players have to restart on and on, so in order to realize both ninja fights that will have you sit at the edge or your seat and a game with a pleasant tempo, we have introduced the Kaisei system which allows to restart on the spot where you died.

Miyazaki revealed that the resurrection (Kaisei) was limited to two at first but since they have raised the number of times you can revive.

By the sounds of it, the game is so hard that they had to implement a resurrection system into it during combat just to help players get through the easiest of battles.

Miyazaki also revealed that the game will get even harder in every NG+. This is a theme throughout the From Software games and delivers a tougher challenge every time the player finishes a playthrough.

Miyazaki revealed more about the game in the interview which you can check out here but right now, the main point is that it is going to be tough so prepare yourself. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is scheduled for release on 22 March 2019 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
