Earlier this month, reports started coming in that star of the Twilight franchise, Robert Pattinson could be the new Batman. Now, it has been confirmed that the British-born actor will portray the role of Batman in the upcoming movie.
It is now official that Robert Pattinson is set to be the new Batman in Matt Reeves’s upcoming movie.
When it was confirmed that the upcoming movie will be focused on a younger version of Bruce Wayne aka Batman, rumours started to point to Robert Pattinson. The star is best known for his role in the vampire-franchise, Twilight. Warner Bros. was at first considering Nicholas Hoult as well, but now the role is officially Robert Pattinson’s. The 32-year-old British-born actor will be the youngest actor to ever portray the role of Batman for a big screen movie.
Matt Reeves is set to release his new Batman movie on 25 June 2021. A script is still being developed, so there are no details yet in terms of storyline or plot for the upcoming new movie.
Earlier this year, Ben Affleck stepped down as the current Batman, to pass on the cape to the next actor. He also confirmed that he will not be directing the next Batman movie. Matt Reeves was then hired to direct the movie. Ben Affleck portrayed the role of Bruce Wayne aka Batman in 2016’s Superman v Batman: Dawn of Justice, and Suicide Squad and then reprised it for the last time in 2017’s Justice League.
Before he portrayed the role, Christian Bale was Batman in the Dark Knight franchise, which consisted of Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), The Dark Knight Rises (2012). Adam West, Michael Keeton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, and Will Arnet have all portrayed the role of Batman for the big screens, too.
