Another day, another new Netflix series apparently in the works. This time, in the form of a Resident Evil series.
A new report has stated that a Resident Evil series is in development at Netflix. A script has apparently been given the green light, with the same production studio (Constantin Film) that created the six movies, also reportedly on board for the Resident Evil series.
As the project hasn’t even been officially confirmed by Netflix, there isn’t much known about it yet in terms of script, plot, cast, release date, etc.. As the same production company is working on the new Resident Evil series with Netflix, the story will apparently follow in the footsteps of the movies.
The drama series will explore the dark inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus. While the project is in early stages, the series is expected to incorporate all of Resident Evil’s signature elements, including action sequences and easter eggs.
Although there isn’t much to go on, it’s safe to assume that the Resident Evil series will be thrilling and will feature lots of zombies and sci-fi action.
The Resident Evil franchise first broke out into the market in 1996 with the release of the Resident Evil video game. The first movie (of six to date) was released back in 2002, starring Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez. The movie franchise was concluded in 2016 with Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which saw Milla Jovovich reprise her iconic role as Alice. All six of the Resident Evil movies were written and directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, so it would be awesome if he works on the new Netflix series.
The latest release in the Resident Evil franchise is the much-anticipated release of Resident Evil 2, which is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
