Capcom Working on Numerous Titles and The RE Engine is Ready For Next-Gen

RE Engine

Capcom has been killing it as of late with, for example, Devil May Cry 5 as well as the Resident Evil 2 Remake. Both games are absolutely fantastic and it is partially thanks to the incredible RE Engine, which made its debut in Resident Evil 7. Now, we have learned that Capcom is working on “numerous” titles with the RE Engine and that it is also ready for the next generation.

The versatility of the engine is without question if you look at how Capcom can use it to create a survival horror like the Resident Evil 2 Remake and then the action-packed DMC5. One thing that really stood out for me with RE2 was the level of gore and facial animations of characters. However, it seems like with next-gen hardware, the engine will shine even brighter and that its potential has not been reached yet at all.

In a recent earnings report, Capcom explained how they kept next-gen in mind while creating their brilliant RE Engine:

The games we developed using the RE Engine during this current hardware generation have received critical acclaim, and from the early stages of building this engine, we kept the ability to augment it for next-generation development in mind; as such, we view the RE Engine as one of our strengths that will contribute to next-generation game creation.

It seems that Capcom has a bunch of titles in development using the engine which have not been announced yet. Hopefully, one of the titles is a Resident Evil 3 remake or a new Dino Crisis game, as that would be amazing on next-gen using the RE Engine. Capcom said that:

While we are unable to comment on the specific number of titles or release windows, there are numerous titles currently being developed internally with the RE ENGINE.

What games from Capcom would you like to see as a next-gen title? Let us know in the comment section below.
