It’s Pokémon Day, marking the anniversary of the release of the first Pokémon game in Japan back in 1996. The first Pokémon game was called Pokémon Red and Green, with Pokémon Blue following later that same year.
Now, Nintendo has just announced the 8th-gen Pokémon games as part of the 23rd-anniversary celebrations for Pokémon Day. Announced today, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield.
The new games were announced during the Nintendo Direct presentation and revealed some interesting information about the upcoming Nintendo Switch-exclusive games.
These games will be new entries in the RPG Pokémon series. And it is the greatest Pokémon experience yet.
The new Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield games look pretty cute with Trainers living in a new area called the Galar Region. This new region was described by the new Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield games’ director, Shigeru Ohmari, as “an expansive region with idyllic countrysides, icy mountain regions, and big cities.”
The cities in the new Galar Region have brand new 8th-Gen Pokémon to catch, Pokémon gyms to beat and of course the Pokémon League to take on to be the very best.
One of the most exciting announcements surrounding the new Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield games, is the introduction of three “never before seen Pokémon“. Scorbunny, Grookey and Sobble will be the new starter Pokémon forPokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, with each boasting cool new abilities. Grookey is a grass-type Pokémon, Sobble is water-type and Scorbunny is a fire-type Pokémon. \
