There are petitions to get rid of Fortnite

Everyone and their cat knows about Epic Games’ Fortnite at this point after the tremendous success of the game’s free-to-play battle royale mode that has taken the gaming world by storm. But how does one measure success? Is it the amount of revenue brought in by the game, is it the number of users? No, its petitions to get rid of Fortnite.

Queue a required sarcastic *Gasp* now…

Yes, there is actually a petition on Change.org simply entitled “Get rid of Fortnite” and it was even picked up by the Washington Post in an article entitled ‘Save your relationship’: Is the video game Fortnite stealing your loved one?

Honestly, at this point, I was lost for words.

The petition has been spreading fast on social media and at the time of writing, just past 2200 signatures. The petition was created anonymously and since it has gained a lot of traction now, the creators actually updated it by saying that it was originally made as a joke. However, now the petition creator sees “how the game can take away from family time and it is a problem in that sense”, further noting that it seems it is actually a “serious problem”.

However, the petition creator still asks that nobody gets too upset over it. Some go as far as to say it is brainwashing their loved ones and another petition asks for Fortnite to get deleted off all consoles. Hey, at least PC gamers and mobile gamers are safe from this one, for now…

Mind = Blown at this point.

Honestly, this is just a bit hilarious and even though I can see that some might feel neglected due to their loved ones playing Fortnite (or any other game for that matter) instead of paying attention to them could be seen as an issue. However, one has to remember that it isn’t the game’s fault and there is simply no way to just get rid of Fortnite. petitions to get rid of Fortnite

The obvious solution here is communication and trying to understand why someone would rather spend time with a game than with someone else. That’s just my opinion though.

What do you think about these petitions to get rid of Fortnite and do you play Fortnite instead of spending time with a loved one or are you maybe on the other side of this situation? Let us know in the comment section below.
