After 24 years, the final DOOM II secret has been found

DOOM II released on 30 September 1994 and way over two decades later, one great player has finally unlocked the game’s last, elusive secret. DOOM fans have known for many years that a secret exists on Map 15, but no one could ever get to it legitimately (without the use of NoClip) and the secret was presumed to be impossible to find, until now.

Enter Zero Master, a DOOM guru who has, after nearly 24 years, found a way to that ever-elusive secret.  Inside Map 15, there is a secret that involves a teleporter that would display as being secret, but standing on it would never trigger the secret. However, Zero Master found that using an enemy to knock the player onto it would finally trigger the secret.

After Zero Master published the video (watch below), the co-creator of DOOM II, John Romero, came out to congratulate the dedicated player on Twitter, stating that:

“CONGRATS, Zero Master! Finally, after 24 years! ‘To win the game you must get 100% on level 15 by John Romero.’ Great trick getting to that secret!”

Mr Romero continued to explain the trick to the secret on Map 15 now that it has finally been discovered:

“A secret teleporter is marked as a discoverable ‘secret’, but when you touch it, you never enter the sector. So you would never get inside the teleporter sector to trigger the secret. The only way to trigger this secret is to be pushed by an enemy into it!”

We salute Zero Master for his perseverance and dedication. Clearly, not all heroes wear capes.

Check out the video below showcasing how DOOM guru Zero Master unlocked the secret (Pain Elemental chase starts at the 3-minute mark) without the use of the NoClip command and tell us what you think about this achievement in the comment section.
