In a not-so-surprising announcement, Take-Two Interactive revealed today that Red Dead Redemption 2 is selling like hotcakes. In a news release published for investors, Take-Two Interactive detailed the success of Red Dead Redemption 2.
According to the release, shipments for the game have reached 17 million units worldwide as of today. That number includes physical and digital sales and are across PS4 and Xbox One. Take-Two Interactive reports that Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold more than the first game’s overall sales over eight years which is truly outstanding.
These numbers go to show just how popular Rockstar has grown in the past few years especially due to the success of GTA V which has almost hit 100 million copies sold since launch. To think that Rockstar release a game every few years and yet the sales for them are insanely high. 17 million copies within two weeks are truly impressive and the sales will no doubt grow in the next few weeks as the shopping season arrives. Rockstar will also be releasing Red Dead Online in the coming weeks and while we don’t know anything about the mode as of yet, that will perhaps also drive more sales as people purchase the game just to play with friends online.
While I doubt the game will ever sell as much as GTA V, the numbers are pretty impressive. Have you not bought into the Red Dead Redemption 2 hype yet? Let us know why in the comments below.
