Red Dead Redemption 2 is arguably the most anticipated game to release this year. We’ve seen a lot of information trickling in about Rockstar’s upcoming title including the game’s file size, which is nearly 100 GB. Even with such a massive file size, Rockstar has revealed that there will be an RDR2 Day One update.
No matter if you are getting a physical copy or if you have already pre-loaded the game, you will have to download the RDR2 Day One update when the game releases.
Reports suggest that the update will only be 3 GB in size, but that is yet to be confirmed. Rockstar explains why there is a need for a Day One update, stating that:
As is common for a game of this size and scope, there will be a downloadable title update addressing a number of last minute tweaks, bugs and fixes. To ensure the best possible gameplay experience, we strongly recommend making sure you’ve downloaded this update before launching the game
Rockstar urges PS4 and Xbox One owners to configure their consoles to automatically download updates as they become available so you can play as soon as possible. Further, the developer does mention that they expect some “unforeseen bugs and issues” with a game of this size.
Let’s face it, we are all pretty excited for Red Dead Redemption 2 and in this day and age, a Day One update is a common occurrence. Hopefully, there won’t be too many issues at launch.
