Last night, Epic Games released Fortnite Season 7 as well as the new Battle Pass details. The arrival of Winter and a massive iceberg sees significant changes to the map. Take to the skies in a brand new Stormwing plane or use one of the new Ziplines to travel through high terrain. Add some bling to your weapons and items with a Wrap, explore new areas, and go wild on your private island with the new Minecraft-inspired Creative Mode.
The massive iceberg brought with it a new area called the Iceberg Biome. It includes three new locations; Frosty Flights, Polar Peak, and Happy Hamlet as well as “unnamed Points of Interest.” To help you traverse the slippery ice slopes, there are Ziplines around the Iceberg and near Expedition Outposts. You can aim, fire, and use items while you’re happily zipping away, but beware, you won’t be able to avoid all the slippery surfaces so prepare for some sliding on certain frozen surfaces.
Frosty Flights also house the new X-4 Stormwing Plane; it can accommodate four passengers and one pilot. It comes equipped with a mounted machine gun, yes, it does overheat, and yes, you can do a barrel roll. But wait! There’s more! The X-4 Stormwing can also fly upside down!
The new Winter-themed Battle Pass for Battle Royale includes the usual 100 levels and 100 rewards, yours for only 950 V-Bucks ($9.50), or you can unlock items as you play. Winter means sexy parkas, snow boots, a new ice-wolf pup, and an adorable Hamster. If you want to skip the grind you can purchase the bundled version that instantly unlocks the first 25 levels; 2800 V-bucks if you’re interested. You can also purchase individual tiers at 150 V-bucks a pop.
Those who buy the Battle Pass get the Zenith and Lynx progressive outfits to celebrate their purchase and those who opt for the 2800 V-bucks option also get Sergeant Santa. Being progressive and all these outfits unlock more styles as you level up. For some reason, Fortnite’s Santa swapped the traditional Father Christmas outfit for a battle vest.
Bored with your bling? Add a Wrap! A brand new way to spend money on Fortnite! It’s cute, it’s Christmassy, and we love it. You can even make a theme that includes weapons, vehicles, outfits and more. For the Fortnite player who has it all.
One of the coolest additions with Fortnite Season 7 is the Creative mode. If you purchase the Battle Pass you get early access to not one, but four private islands where you can construct the Fortnite fantasy of a lifetime. Invite your friends and strut your stuff in your private Fortnite adventure. Don’t get too mad when you experience unexpected bugs on your dream island – it is in an early access phase. On December 13 the Fortnite island dream comes to all players.
You can access it via the main menu by clicking on the My Island menu. Some of its features include things like setting permissions to allow friends to edit constructions or even build things while visiting. “Players will be able to keep a server active for up to 4 hours at a time,” explains Epic. “Creative Hub provides access to your own island, the islands of other friends who have joined on the server, or featured islands selected from the community.”
Epic Games is taking a well-deserved holiday, so that means Fortnite Season 7 gets extended with an extra two weeks to end on February 28. This doesn’t mean they’re leaving Fortnite players without new adventures; you can expect a little something special to hit servers before New Years.
