Dota 2 Update Brings Another Wave of Balance Tweaks

Dota 2 update

After the massive 7.20 gameplay update, Valve has continued to tinker with Dota 2, with multiple balance changes each week. The new Dota 2 update 7.20d again focuses on balancing heroes (21 this time around) as well as several items. There’s a lot of changes and since the last update buffed Slark quite a bit, this update brings a few nerfs to the hero.

The new Dota 2 update sure has a lot of changes and it all starts with several items. Interestingly enough, many of the first details listed have movement speed on items. Then, there’s also a change where Valve decided to increase the movement speed of strength heroes with a base speed under 300 with an additional 5 points. Let’s first look at the item changes, which should make those who love using Mask of Madness very happy.

  • Tranquil Boots: Movement speed reduced from +28% to +24%
  • Power Treads: Attribute bonus increased from 12 to 14
  • Phase Boots: Now has the active again instead of the passive
  • Mask of Madness: Movement speed changed from +12% to +25 constant
  • Yasha: Movement speed changed from +8% to +25 constant
  • Manta Style: Movement speed changed from +8% to +25 constant
  • Sange and Yasha: Movement speed changed from +12% to +35 constant
  • Yasha and Kaya: Movement speed changed from +12% to +35 constant
  • Wraith Band: Recipe cost increased from 220 to 240
  • Bracer: Recipe cost increased from 220 to 240
  • Null Talisman: Recipe cost increased from 220 to 240

The new Dota 2 update also brings changes to 21 heroes as I mentioned earlier and most of them don’t look too big. Slark gets a bit of a nerf, Faceless Void shouldn’t bash as often on max level (yeah sure) and Ember gets the tiniest of buffs. The hero that has been hit the hardest, in my opinion, has to be Phantom Assassin, who gets three nerfs that should see her damage output reduced a bit. Old Magnus isn’t doing too well either and, of course, Grimstroke gets another round of nerfs. Check out the balance changes in the new Dota 2 update, sorted per hero, below.
