Motorola Foldable Phone Confirmed, Similar To Razr Flip Phone

Motorola Foldable Phone

The iconic Razr flip phone was purchased by many in the early 2000s, even Paris Hilton rocked one. It’s one of the most popular phones since mobile phones were created. After a few rumours had been making the rounds that the Razr is coming back, the American company has confirmed that it’s working on a new Motorola foldable phone.

Vice-President of Global Product at Motorola, Dan Dery confirmed that the company is working on a Motorola foldable phone after it’s been rumoured that its iconic Razr is being relaunched. It might not be the Razr relaunch fans were hoping for, but the Motorola foldable phone is what the company is pushing to release soon. A patent filed for the new Motorola foldable phone does, however, show a very similar design to the iconic Razr flip phone.

The company has apparently been working for a while now to bring out a Motorola foldable phone.

We started to work on foldables a long time ago. And we have been doing a lot of iteration.

2019 is definitely the year of the creative phones, with many cool phones already revealed during the 2019 Mobile World Congress. Foldable phones are specifically a hot trend on the mobile market this year, so it makes sense that Motorola wants to ride the wave. Huawei and Samsung have each unveiled a foldable phone already, with Xiaomi showing off a prototype.

So when will Motorola be relaunching the Motorola foldable phone? Dan Dery insisted that the company has “no intention of coming later than everybody else in the market“. Which means the Motorola foldable phone is probably imminent.

Dan Dery elaborated on the design of the upcoming Motorola foldable phone, explaining that the company chose the clamshell-style of the Razr flip phone over how other companies are designing their foldable phones.

We have been testing a plastic OLED device with plastic film on top. The fact that you’re touching [that kind of display] with your nails is scratching it. It has a short life right away; it starts dying the day you unpack it.

Motorola’s intention would not be to put the display outside. When you know the scratching issues you would be facing, you will have something that is very rapidly not usable.

What would you like to see from a Motorola foldable phone?
