Microsoft Wants to Tailor the Windows Store for Gamers

Windows Store for Gamers

Let’s face it, when most PC gamers want to purchase a game digitally, they use the likes of Steam, GOG and a few others. When you compare the likes of Steam to the Windows Store, we all know that the latter is lacking for gamers. Microsoft knows this and wants to tailor the Windows Store for gamers. That’s according to Phil Spencer, the ex-head of Xbox who is currently working in the Senior Leadership Team at Microsoft.

With Spencer’s new position as the Executive VP of Gaming at Microsoft, he now directly reports to the CEO, Satya Nadella. What this means is that hopefully, good old Phil can make life better for PC gamers on the Windows Store in the future. Judging by the current state of the Windows Store, there is a lot of work to be done.

As reported by WCCFTech, Mr Spencer recently explained that:

I think we’ve got a ton of work to do on Windows. And Windows is something that I’m very committed to and I’ve heard all the feedback about our store. I’m going to take a bigger leadership role with what’s going on with the Windows Store, making it really tailored towards the gamers that we know want to see the best from what we have to offer. It’s going to be a fun journey.

It will be very interesting to see what changes will get made to tailor the Windows Store for gamers. As Mr Spencer says, there is a ton of work to do on the operating system. Most PC gamers at the moment will probably steer clear of the Windows Store and honestly, even with improvements, I think it will be a hard sell.

Which improvements do you want to see on the Windows Store? Do you think Microsoft will be able to tailor the Windows Store for gamers or will you always prefer something like Steam? Let us know in the comment section below.
