According to Metro Exodus developer, 4A Games, it will be “the greatest Metro adventure yet.” It is the third instalment in the popular Metro series, and last night Deep Silver announced that the game has gone gold with a new release date of 15 February 2019. To celebrate the announcement, 4A Games released the Title Sequence and it looks and sounds spectacular.
The captivating score is performed by Metro series composer Alexey Omelchuk with the Title Sequence by Elastic, the company behind blockbuster hits Game of Thrones and Westworld. Andy Hall, Creative Director at Elastic had this to say about Metro Exodus.
Once we had been immersed in the game, we essentially lived in this frozen and terrifying landscape for many, many weeks…we are delighted with the final film.
The next big Metro Exodus reveals will be the story trailer as well as a look at what players can expect from the gameplay.
Metro Exodus takes place in the year 2036, which makes it two years after the events of the previous title, Metro: Last Light. It again follows the story of Artyom as he flees from Russia’s metro tunnels with a band of survivors in search of a new home far to the East. The journey is a long one, and as such, you’ll board the Aurora, a heavily modified steam locomotive that will take you on a continent-spanning adventure.
The game supports day and night cycles, dynamic weather as well as something we’ve not experienced in previous Metro titles, huge, non-linear levels. Metro Exodus will have the signature Metro gameplay, stealth mechanics, and survival horror elements. Scavenging and crafting returns so expect some epic hand-made weaponry features. Player choice plays a more meaningful roll in Metro Exodus than in previous instalments as your decisions will have a direct impact on which of your companions will survive the journey.
a flickering candle in the darkness; a ragged gasp as your gasmask frosts over; the howl of a mutant on the night wind – Metro will immerse and terrify you like no other game…
Coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on February 15.
