Latest Dota 2 Update Nerfs Viper, Buffs Techies And More

Every time I see a new Dota 2 update, I can’t help but wonder if Valve will finally release the next hero, Mars. Unfortunately, the latest Dota 2 update doesn’t bring the upcoming hero to the roster but instead focuses on more balance changes. It isn’t the biggest balance update either, but there are some interesting changes in the latest Dota 2 update.

Those who aren’t a pro at last-hitting creeps will love a little boost the latest Dota 2 update brings. XP earned when being denied has been increased from 30% to 35%. Personally, I would have loved for things to go the other way around, but I guess Valve knows best. Then, we also have two minor item nerfs, where it will take players a bit longer to pay off that Midas and the price of Drums have also been increased slightly.

In the latest Dota 2 update, the rest of the notes focus on hero balance changes. The most significant of these is all the nerfs to Viper, which Valve has smacked hard with the nerf bat. Then, there’s even a buff to Techies (yes, seriously) as well as a bunch of other minor balance changes affecting over 40 heroes. Check out the full notes for Dota 2 update 7.21c below.

General

  • XP earned when being denied increased from 30% to 35%

Items

Drum of Endurance
  • Recipe cost increased from 500 to 600
Hand of Midas
  • Gold bonus reduced from 180 to 160

Heroes

Abaddon:
  • Mist Coil damage/heal increased from 100/150/200/250 to 120/165/210/255
Alchemist:
  • Acid Spray radius increased from 400/475/550/625 to 475/525/575/625
Ancient Apparition:
  • Intelligence gain increased from 3 to 3.4
  • Ice Blast duration increased from 9/10/11 to 10/11/12
Bounty Hunter:
  • Agility gain reduced from 3.1 to 2.6
Broodmother:
  • Agility gain increased from 2.5 to 2.8
  • Level 15 Talent increased from +15 Agility to +20
Chen:
  • Divine Favor bonus damage reduced from 12/24/36/48 to 8/16/24/32
  • Divine Favor non-hero damage multiplier increased from 2x to 3x
Death Prophet:
  • Silence cast point reduced from 0.5 to 0.4
  • Crypt Swarm manacost reduced from 105/120/140/165 to 85/110/135/160
  • Level 15 Talent increased from +150 Cast Range to +175

Elder Titan:

  • Astral Spirit bonus damage from creeps reduced from 6/9/12/15 to 3/7/11/15
Enchantress:
  • Impetus damage increased from 16/20/24% to 16/22/28%
Juggernaut:
  • Healing Ward movement speed reduced from 400 to 350
Kunkka:
  • Tidebringer no longer provides a bonus on denies
Lifestealer:
  • Strength gain reduced from 3.2 to 2.9
Lina:
  • Level 20 Talent increased from +25/2% Fiery Soul Per Stack to +30/2%
  • Level 20 Talent increased from +12% Spell Amplification to +14%
Luna:
  • Eclipse max beams increased from 5/8/11 to 6/9/12
Lycan:
  • Strength gain reduced from 3.8 to 3.4
Medusa:
  • Intelligence gain increased from 2.1 to 2.6
Meepo:
  • Agility increased from 23 + 1.6 to 24 + 1.8
  • Strength gain increased from 1.6 to 1.8
Mirana:
  • Intelligence increased from 17 + 1.7 to 19 + 1.9
Monkey King:
  • Mischief now makes you immune to damage briefly, rather than invulnerable
Morphling
  • Strength gain increased from 2.6 to 3.0
Nature’s Prophet:
  • Nature’s Call treant damage reduced from 36 to 27/30/33/36
Pangolier:
  • Lucky Shot no longer triggers off of Pangolier illusions
  • Lucky Shot slow reduced from 40% to 35%
Phantom Assassin:
  • Agility gain reduced from 3.7 to 3.4
Phantom Lancer:
  • Phantom Rush bonus agility increased from 9/18/27/36 to 11/22/33/44
Queen of Pain:
  • Base intelligence increased by 3 (base damage unchanged)
  • Sonic Wave damage increased from 320/410/500 to 340/430/520
Riki:
  • Base movement speed increased by 5
Sand King:
  • Base intelligence increased by 3
Shadow Fiend:
  • Base strength increased by 2
Shadow Shaman:
  • Shackles cooldown increased from 10 to 16/14/12/10
Sniper:
  • Headshot damage increased from 20/50/80/110 to 30/60/90/120
  • Shrapnel charge replenish rate improved from 55 to 50
Spirit Breaker:
  • Base health regen increased by 0.75
Storm Spirit:
  • Electric Vortex no longer slows your hero
Sven:
  • Strength gain reduced from 3.5 to 3.2
Techies:
  • Remote Mines cooldown reduced from 10 to 8
Templar Assassin:
  • Agility gain increased from 2.6 to 2.8
  • Refraction bonus damage increased from 20/40/60/80 to 25/50/75/100
Tidehunter:
  • Strength gain reduced from 3.8 to 3.5
Troll Warlord:
  • Level 20 talent reduced from +50 damage to +40
Ursa:
  • Movement speed reduced by 5
Viper:
  • Agility gain reduced from 3.3 to 2.8
  • Nethertoxin aoe damage no longer stacks with itself
  • Nethertoxin manacost increased from 75 to 70/80/90/100
  • Poison Attack slow reduced from 25/30/35/40% to 10/20/30/40%
Windranger:
  • Shackleshot cooldown reduced from 18/16/14/12 to 16/14/12/10
  • Focus Fire attack speed increased from 400 to 425
