We are currently living in the age of the notch. Ever since Apple revealed the iPhone X last year, every phone maker jumped on board to design similar screen solutions that see a giant notch placed in the middle of your display. This notch is necessary as the front-facing camera and other FaceID and 3D Projectors are placed there for ease of use. However, many people hate the notch and it may be a thing of the past soon as Huawei could be releasing a smartphone without it.
According to an image floating around on the net, it shows a full-display device with a circular camera cutout at the top left side of the display. The screen also seems to take over the entire front of the device which means this new Huawei phone could have the most screen-to-body ratio than any other flagship device on the market.
Huawei has confirmed that the image is real and they will be announcing the device on 3 December 2018. The race is on, however, as Samsung is apparently also working on a device with a display that includes a built-in camera hole. Samsung’s device will be called the “Infinity-O” and might also be revealed in December.
Who would have thought that two smartphones would be announced so close to the end of the year? We will share the news as it happens so stay tuned for more on these two upcoming phones. In the meantime, check out our Huawei Mate 20 Pro review here.
