We know that Huawei has been pushing the limits when it comes to smartphones and the power and usability of them and latest Mate 20 range is proof of that. Yesterday at a conference in London, Huawei announced the new Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro and they are beastly devices. Most of all, the new smartphone range is above and beyond any device we have seen from any manufacturer in 2018 and could already be the must-have phone of 2019.
The Mate 20 is the baby version of the Mate 20 Pro but don’t let that fool you, it is just as fierce as its older brother. It features a tiny notch on the top of the display and an under-screen fingerprint scanner. The Mate 20 features a 6.5-inch LED display with a resolution of 2244×1080 while the Mate 20 Pro has a giant 6.4-inch Curved OLED display at 3120×1440. The Mate 20 boasts an 86,90% screen-to-body ratio while the Mate 20 Pro has 88,08%. This, making these devices the most screen ever seen on a smartphone.
Like the P20 and P20 Pro, the Mate range features a triple-lens camera but with slight improvements. The Mate 20 comes with a 16-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens, 12-megapixel wide angle and an 8-megapixel telephoto. As for the Mate 20 Pro, this beast features a 40-megapixel wide-angle, 20-megapixel super-wide angle and an 8-megapixel telephoto.
The Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro both feature the new Kirin 980 chipset. This is the first chipset to use the new 7nm architecture, smaller than the P20 and P20 Pro’s 10nm model. This new chipset allows the device to be more energy efficient while providing better processing and graphics. Inside the Kirin 980 sits Huawei’s new dual neural engines which the company claims can improve AI processes by 134%. These processors help the phone process video in real-time and add live bokeh effects to photos. The company also claims that the chipset is 20% faster than the P20 and boast 45% more graphical power as well as 40% better power efficiency.
