Hands-Free Movement Controller for PSVR Announced at CES 2019

Our very own Marco Cocomello is at CES 2019 in the US right now and he will be bringing you all the awesome coverage of all the best tech announced. With that being said, no one can cover everything from the hundreds of announcements and this is just too good of a news for PSVR owners. It has been announced that the hands-free movement controller, 3dRudder, is coming to the PSVR in a few months.

Sure, the PlayStation Move controllers do the job and I’ve personally not heard a lot of complaints, except for the facts that they are quite hard to come by in South Africa and need to be bought separately. Well, if you are in the market for a movement controller addition to your PSVR then you could maybe wait a bit and try to get your hands on a hands-free movement controller instead. By the looks of it, it is quite a step up (sorry) in games where movement is mapped to the move controllers.

Enter 3dRudder, a device that has been on the market for PC gamers for quite some time and will be coming to PSVR in April 2019. 3dRudder is a hands-free movement controller that sits on the floor with your feet on top of it, allowing you to move with your feet in a game, just like nature intended.

Your 3dRudder grants you full motion control: speed-up, slow down, stop exactly when you choose to. Your hands can finally focus on shooting, looting, hitting just like they would in real life. You are fully immersed in a new, thrilling virtual experience. You run the game.

At the time of writing, local pricing and availability have yet to be confirmed as it was announced in the early hours of the morning. However, on 3dRudder’s official website, the PSVR branded version is listed at $119.99. There’s also a small list of supported titles on launch, but that will surely change as developers of PSVR games will now have more options to choose from.

Check out the 3dRudder video below and tell us if you are in the market for a hands-free movement controller for your PSVR in the comment section.
