Dota 2: ESL One Hamburg Kicks Off Today Without SumaiL

ESL One Hamburg

ESL One Hamburg kicks off today and just like Katowice 2019, it doesn’t form part of the Dota 2 Pro Circuit. However, the ESL One tournaments have always been amazing to watch with top Dota 2 pro teams and great casting talent. Dota 2 fans shouldn’t miss out on all the esports action today, even though Evil Geniuses’ SumaiL will.

At 12:00 South African time, the ESL One Hamburg group stages will kick off with the following matchups:

  • Vici Gaming versus PaiN gaming
  • Alliance versus Mineski
  • Evil Geniuses versus Team Secret

Evil Geniuses fans shouldn’t be surprised to not see their star player, Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan with his colourful hair compete. Unfortunately, due to visa issues (yes, again), EG had to get a replacement for the tournament in the form of Quin “CCnC” Callahan. Sure, CCnC is quite good but one can’t help but feel a bit nervous for EG against the likes of Team Secret.

On the EG Facebook page, the organization explained the situation:

Evil Geniuses would like to announce that Quinn “CCnC” Callahan will be standing in for the team during ESL One Hamburg 2018. He will be substituting for Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan, who unfortunately experienced a delay in receiving his visa.
The last-minute nature of the delay meant that we needed to find a stand-in on short notice; we’d like to thank Quinn and paiN Gaming for making the process a smooth and amicable one. CCnC currently plays for pain X, and has previous experience playing for OpTic Gaming and The Dire.
It is definitely going to be a great five days of esports ahead of us as the grand finals take place on 28 October.
Are you concerned for Evil Geniuses without the presence of SumaiL? Which teams do you think will make it to the grand final? Let us know in the comment section below.
