DOOM: Annihilation Trailer Drops & It Might Be Worse Than The First Film

DOOM: Annihilation

The first DOOM movie released all the way back in 2005 and it sucked badly. It was still okay to watch because of how cheesy some scenes were and there was some notable talent in the movie, from Karl Urban to none other than The Rock. Thirteen and a half years doesn’t mean we forget just how terrible it was and now it seems that Universal 1440 Entertainment is trying their best to make the next one even worse if that is at all possible. The first DOOM: Annihilation trailer dropped and I don’t even know if you should watch but it is embedded at the bottom of this article anyway.

Let me explain that first of all, this isn’t a movie that will hit the big screen. DOOM: Annihilation comes from Universal 1440 Entertainment, a division of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. It will be a direct-to-video affair, so no big cinema debut, thankfully.

Here’s the story description:

Annihilation follows a group of space marines as they respond to a distress call from a base on a Martian moon, only to discover it’s been overrun by demonic creatures who threaten to create Hell on Earth.

That sounds like pretty much like the storyline of any DOOM game and shouldn’t put fans off at all. However, the 30-second trailer definitely will. There’s even a big weapon being picked up by a marine, but everything just looks so fake and plastic. At least they aren’t going with the first-person mode it seems, but it is all very cheesy, with taglines like “it’s not a game anymore”, special effects that leave a lot to be desired and the cherry on the cake, someone screaming “die die die!” with less conviction then me asking for a second helping of a salad.

Someone asked the official DOOM Twitter account what they (Bethesda and id Software) thought about the trailer. Check out their response below.

DOOM: Annihilation was written and directed by Tony Giglio and it stars Amy Manson, Dominic Mafham, Nina Bergman as well as Luke Allen-Gale. The film will release somewhere in “Fall 2019” and you can check out the first trailer below.
