I never thought I would ever hear the words “oh my God” come out of Pikachu’s mouth but it is has happened. The first trailer for the upcoming live-action Detective Pikachu movie has dropped and it looks pretty epic. Ryan Reynolds voices the iconic yellow electric mouse and by the looks of the footage in the trailer, the movie is not looking too bad.
Directed by Rob Letterman (Goosebumps, Monsters Vs Aliens), the film follows the story of Tim Goodman played by Justice Smith who sets off on a mission to find his missing father and private eye in a world where Pokemon and people live side by side in peace. He befriends his father’s former Pokemon partner, Detective Pikachu, a hilarious wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth.
Tim soon realizes that he can communicate with Pikachu which is not normal in the world. They then join forces uncover the clues leading them through Ryme City – a sprawling, modern metropolis where they meet a diverse cast of Pokemon in a plot that could destroy the peaceful world of Pokemon and humans.
If you watch the trailer carefully, you will spot a few familiar faces. Jigglypuff, Bulbasaur, Pachirisu, Charizard, Greninja, Squirtle and a lot more. I have a feeling this is that movie you will have to rewatch a couple of times just to make sure you don’t miss the cameos
Detective Pikachu opens in cinemas on 10 May 2019. Check out the trailer below;
