We won’t see Daredevil return for a fourth season on Netflix as it was recently announced that the show has been cancelled. It is a move that feels very questionable as the show has gone from strength to strength, with great feedback from fans and critics. There are only two Marvel Netflix superhero shows remaining that hasn’t been officially cancelled yet, Jessica Jones and Punisher. The latter, focusing on the murderous Frank Castle, could very likely be getting the axe as well soon.

I, for one, wasn’t too surprised when Iron Fist got cancelled, as it was the worst of the shows, by far. Then, Luke Cage got the axe as well which was a bit surprising. However, Daredevil getting cancelled was an absolute shock. It wasn’t only shocking to fans, but to the creators as well.
One of the writers on Daredevil, Tamara Becher-Wilkinson, thought the show was too big to fail, as she explained (as reported by Cinemablend) by stating that:
The reviews were so overwhelmingly positive that I thought there was no way they would cancel it. I don’t know how well it does on Netflix or anything like that…[but] it was surprising to me they would cancel something that was so well received. I thought it was too big to fail.
For those who love watching Frank Castle blow criminals away, that might come to an end too, leaving Jessica Jones as the last one standing. Although this has not been officially revealed by Netflix just yet, an “exclusive report” notes that Punisher will be cancelled. However, fans can still look forward to Season 2 of Punisher next year, but after that, you won’t be seeing old Frankie on Netflix anymore.
All this is very depressing for this Marvel fan, but there is some hope still. You see, Disney (which owns Marvel) is launching their own Disney+ Streaming Service. We don’t know much about this service yet, but it is expected to launch sometime next yet. That would explain a lot, especially the Daredevil cancellation, as Disney could be gearing up to release the Marvel shows and their future seasons exclusively on their streaming service.
What do you think about the cancellation of Daredevil and possibly Punisher as well? Let us know in the comment section below.
