A date’s been set for a new Batman movie, which will be directed by Matt Reeves. However, it’s now been revealed that Ben Affleck won’t be returning as the title DC Comics character.
After it’s been recently revealed that Matt Reeves’s Batman movie will be coming out in June 2021, it’s now being reported that Ben Affleck won’t return to portray the role of Gotham’s protector.
The report notes that the upcoming movie, slated for 2021, will focus on a younger version of Bruce Wayne aka Batman, and that’s apparently one of the reasons Ben Affleck isn’t reprising his role. This is coupled with his schedule, which is apparently very full.
As you may remember, Ben Affleck was going to direct the next Batman movie, but then Matt Reeves took over from him due to his schedule being apparently too full. Regardless, the actor seems to be excited to see what Matt Reeves brings to the Batman movie slated for 2021.

Ben Affleck first portrayed the role of Batman in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He reprised his role as Batman in Suicide Squad (2016) and again in Justice League (2017).
Nothing more was really noted about the upcoming Batman movie. We only know right now that Matt Reeves will be writing the script and will be directing it. It remains to be seen who will take over from Ben Affleck to portray the role of Batman in the upcoming movie.
This revelation also raises other questions, like what happens to the rest of the Justice League’s storyline. We at least know that an Aquaman sequel is definitely happening, but as for the rest of the DC characters’ storylines – we will have to wait and see how this new Batman movie affects their stories.
Who would you like to see portray the role of the new Batman in the upcoming 2021 movie?
