Avengers: Endgame is the Marvel movie that is turning entertainment and box office records to dust. The final chapter in phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which all began with Iron Man back in 2008, is now set to surpass James Cameron’s Avatar as the highest grossing movie of all time, according to a trusted entertainment forecaster.
The 22nd Marvel movie in the MCU is doing so well that Wade Holden from Kagan, S&P Global Market Intelligence (a trusted entertainment forecaster) has predicted that Avengers: Endgame will be dethroning the 2009 smash-hit, Avatar.
James Cameron’s Avatar and other big blockbusters like Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Titanic, and last year’s Avengers: Infinity War have managed to reach the $2 billion mark at the box office. Avatar has made a reported $2.7 billion since it’s 2009 release which captivated cinema audiences because of the amazing movie technology James Cameron created to bring the world of Pandora to life on the big screen. Avatar 2 is set to be released next year, so if Avatar gets kicked off the top spot, James Cameron might have a go at number one again soon.
Avengers: Endgame became the first movie to ever make over $1 billion in its opening weekend, so it’s likely it will continue to take other records, like the highest grossing movie of all time, possibly too.
As Avengers: Endgame continues to dominate at the box office, the stars who portrayed the iconic characters are laughing all the way to the bank, with them reportedly getting massive paychecks for their roles in the final chapter of phase 3 of the MCU.
