Assassin's Creed III Remastered

Assassin’s Creed III was first released in 2012 and is being remastered to be released on 29 March 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, with it coming to the Nintendo Switch on 21 May 2019. Assassin’s Creed III Remastered will not only have enhanced graphics but will also come with some major improved gameplay mechanics, especially for the Nintendo Switch version. These were outlined by Ubisoft’s community developer, Vincent Le Jamtel while visiting the developers of the game at the Ubisoft’s Barcelona studios.

In terms of graphics, Assassin’s Creed III Remastered has been updated to meet the graphical standards of today’s games and has 4K and HDR support. More crowds were added to the game and skin shading has been improved on characters to give them more expression.

Gameplay is also getting a facelift in Assassin’s Creed III Remastered, with many of the main systems getting massive overhauls. The navigation on the map and the mini-maps have been improved, with players being able to free aim when firing weapons. Stealth has been improved in the remastered version of the game, with the original game focusing more on brawling. With Assassin’s Creed III Remastered, new stealth options, like whistling from a hiding place to lure enemies, has been added to bring it closer to the theme of stealth in the other titles in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Double-blade assassination has also been added to the hidden blade assassination option. And you can now literally stab your enemies in the back, with attacks from the back also being added to the remastered version.

The Nintendo Switch version of the game has received special attention to ensure that the UI (user interface) functions properly on the console. Things like ensuring everything is usable in terms of the touch controls on the Nintendo Switch were, for instance, main focuses when the Nintendo Switch version of Assassin’s Creed III Remaster was being developed. Other improvements to ergonomics and gameplay mechanics for the Nintendo Switch include:

  • HD Rumble – provides an additional layer of feedback during gameplay;
  • Touch screen interface – enhances accessibility for game menus;
  • Motion Control – ensures an intuitive controlled feeling during distant weapon aiming; and
  • Specific UI design – provides HUD adaptation for different display modes (docked or handheld gameplay).

Players can also look out for new Legacy outfits in the remastered version that weren’t in the original game, like Bagek, Alexios, and Aguilar from the movie.
