Apex Legends is the surprise battle royal game that no one expected, but it seems everyone’s happy it was made and released. This new free-to-play game from Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment has already achieved a lot in the short amount of time that the game has been live. Now, it’s been revealed that 10 million Apex Legends players have already battled it out, within 72 hours of the game’s release.
Achieving 10 million Apex Legends players isn’t the only milestone this new game has reached. EA announced that the game has reached 1 million concurrent Apex Legends players in such a short period of time. The company explains that it took a huge risk with making the game free-to-play, but in the end, it seems the risk has paid off, with literally millions of Apex Legends players.
This has been a truly incredible journey. We tested and tweaked. We argued and agreed. We got to a point where we felt some magic. We knew it would be risky to take the franchise in this direction, to go free to play, and do a surprise launch. But we fell in love with Apex Legends and wanted, needed, other people to play it too.
The game surprised the gaming community by being rumoured, then being announced and released, all within a few days. But it seems it was a welcomed surprise, based on the amount of Apex Legends players already playing the game.
If you’re loving Apex Legends now, you’re probably in for some more fun things surrounding the game in the future, with EA and Respawn promising that they have more things in store for Apex Legends players.
