During the company’s recent earnings call, Electronic Arts revealed that it has plans to release an Apex Legends mobile version. The company announced that its latest battle royale game, which it released earlier this year, is one of the fastest growing franchises in EA’s history.
During the company’s fourth-quarter fiscal 2019 earnings call, EA revealed that it is in “advanced negotiations” to bring out a mobile version of its instant hit game. Currently, the battle royale game is only available for PC and console owners, but EA plans to rectify that soon by bringing the game to mobile. The company also plans to make Apex Legends available in China and Korea.
The game is a huge success for EA, having reached major milestones already since its February 2019 release like 50 million players. The company confirmed that Apex Legends is helping it tap into new players, as nearly 30% of Apex Legends players are new to EA, so it has big plans for the game’s future.
The company didn’t reveal plans on what the mobile version of Apex Legends will encompass and also didn’t reveal any details on when we can expect it to be released for mobile users. Other popular battle royale games like Fortnite and PUBG are available across all gaming platforms, which includes mobile. So, it makes sense that EA has plans to release an Apex Legends mobile version.
Aside from plans to bring out an Apex Legends mobile version, EA also revealed that it’s focused on keeping the game’s current fan-based entertained with long-term plans which include, “new seasons with more robust Battle Pass content, new legends, and exciting evolutions to the in-game environment“.
