Apex Legends players have been flocking to the Apex Legends subreddit to complain and share video clips that show how certain characters having bigger hitbox sizes compared to other characters, making them easier targets and a pain if they’re your main. Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that there is an issue with the Apex Legends hitbox sizes.
A few players reported on Reddit that some characters have bigger hitbox sizes than others, despite their actual appearances in the game. As explained by one player, the hitbox sizes of Gibraltar, Caustic, and Pathfinder have been found to be the biggest. Pathfinder has a particularly big hitbox compared to his actual appearance in the game. Bangalore, Lifeline, and Wraith have smaller hitbox sizes, with some players opting to use them to survive longer in battles because they’re smaller targets. The varying Apex Legends hitbox sizes were causing a lot of frustration amongst players as they felt the game becomes unbalanced because what you see in the game, isn’t completely accurate. Also, the different hitbox sizes make some of the characters in the game unappealing because they’re such easy targets, despite their cool abilities.
When asked whether the disproportionate Apex Legends hitbox issue would be addressed soon, community manager for Respawn Entertainment, Jay Frechette, responded by saying:
We are definitely aware of it and we were actually discussing it today. I can’t say anything more for now but we hear you guys.
What would be the solution to this issue? Some players have argued that all the characters in Apex Legends should be upgraded to have the same size hitbox. Whereas other players have suggested that the characters with the bigger hitbox sizes should be given extra abilities to compensate for this. Another option is to match the hitbox with the Legends actual appearance, to make for a more realistic experience.
