Apex Legends was rumoured, then confirmed and released yesterday for PS4, Xbox One, and PC players. The battle royale game promises to be a fan favourite, especially now that Respawn Entertainment is apparently working on Apex Legends cross-play.
EA and Respawn Entertainment delighted gamers around the world when Apex Legends was released yesterday. The free-to-play battle royale game might become even more appealing, with Apex Legends cross-play being worked on. Drew McCoy, Respawn Entertainment’s Lead Producer confirmed that Apex Legends cross-play will be a possibility in the future, by promising that the gaming studio “plans to allow players to play with their friends on other platforms“.
When Apex Legends cross-play launches, it will allow gamers on different platforms to play together in the battle royal game. However, cross-purchases and cross-progression will never be possibilities for the game, with Drew McCoy explaining that this is due to the game’s early on created systems, which “can’t [be] reconciled after the fact“.
The game is already gaining a fan base, with Respawn Entertainment CEO tweeting out his thanks for the support of Apex Legends.
I’m so overwhelmed right now, @PlayApex broke a million unique players in under 8 hours. ❤️❤️❤️

As it only recently became possible to play with your gamer friends who jam on other platforms, it’s awesome to see that Respawn Entertainment plans to be progressive and bring Apex Legends cross-play to the fans.
One thing we know Respawn Entertainment is not working on is Titanfall 3. It turns out it was working on Apex Legends all along, with Apex Legends cross-play definitely in the works for the future.
Whether Apex Legends will be released for the Nintendo Switch or for mobile devices, still remains to be seen.
