Shenmue 3’s latest trailer was recently revealed at the PC Gaming Show, with creator Yu Suzuki appearing on stage to thank fans. While he didn’t go into detail around the game’s development, he did inaugurate the fact that Shenmue 3 will be releasing on the Epic Games Store.
Many may be wondering if Shenmue 3 will launch exclusively on the Epic Games Store. While Epic Games does sponsor the PC Gaming Show, there is still no indication as to whether or not Shenmue 3 will be exclusive. That being said, the trailer is devoid of any other store logo aside from the Epic Games Store.
If Shenmue 3 is exclusively on the Epic Games Store for PC, that will undoubtedly upset many of its PC player base. The game will also be available on the PlayStation, but this may be bittersweet news to some. The Shenmue 3 Kickstarter clearly states that players will require Steam, so it is possible that the game will launch across both platforms.
As for the trailer offerings, we get to see more Shenmue 3 action. That being said, the game does look a bit clunky, but the game should receive more polish closer to launch. We do get to see the typical, fan favourite Shenmue dialogue in action. However, the game has been delayed until November so Shenmue fans will have to wait a little longer before they can get their hands on the game.
While the game may not be everyone’s cup of tea, it is nice to see the developers sticking to the true spirit of the original two games. We hope that the tone down in graphics has been compensated by a greater focus in story, character-depth, gameplay, and a fulfilling experience for longtime fans.
