If you are like me and love horror games, especially those that push the boundaries and deliver something new, then I’ve got some good news for you. David Jaffe, the director of the original God of War (2005) and co-director of God of War 2, is working on a new horror game and although no gameplay or screenshots have been shared so far, I, for one, am excited.
There is no doubt that David Jaffe is a developer that can deliver a fantastic game but he is working on this new horror game without any secured funding. Mr Jaffe says it is “incredibly stressful and scary” but that he is also having a lot of fun with it.
Mr Jaffe first talked about his new horror game on Twitter, explaining that:
I’m designing/writing something new these days. It’s a single player, horror game that is attempting something new with in-game storytelling and I am in love with it.
Attempting something new with in-game storytelling sounds very interesting but at the moment no one has seen the game, so there are no leaks or any indication of what Mr Jaffe means. He continues by explaining that:
I have shown NO ONE what I’m working on. And thus I have no funding and no interest in the project. When I DO show the world, it MAY be that everyone hates it and no one wants to make it. Or it may become the next big thing. At this stage, I don’t get to know.
Hopefully, Mr Jaffe will give us a glimpse of his new horror game soon, as I am very excited to see what the director of the original God of War comes up with. In a Tweet in the early hours of the morning, Mr Jaffe shared what looks like a story/event structure, and you can see the mention of a priest and a demon, with (likely) placeholder names for characters such as “Maggie Sue”.
The structure begins to form! Finally!:) pic.twitter.com/8sjrUVvYjE

Hopefully, there won’t be a thousand QTEs.
