The star from the famous Twilight franchise is exchanging his vampire teeth for a black cape and mask with pointy ears. Robert Pattinson is reportedly in final negotiations with Warner Bros. to sign on to become the new Batman.
Deadline reports that the role of The Batman remains uncast but that both Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult who plays Beast in the current X-Men films are both frontrunners for the role.
Ben Affleck stepped down from the role, and also decided to pass on the director’s hat to Matt Reeves in 2017. Now, it has been confirmed that the 32-year-old actor, Robert Pattinson is in serious negotiations with Warner Bros. to step into the role as Batman.
Ben Affleck portrayed the role of Bruce Wayne aka Batman in 2016’s Superman v Batman: Dawn of Justice, and Suicide Squad and then reprised it for the last time in 2017’s Justice League. Before he portrayed the role, Christian Bale was Batman in the Dark Knight franchise, which consisted of Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), The Dark Knight Rises (2012). Adam West, Michael Keeton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, and Will Arnet have all portrayed the role of Batman for the big screens, too.
At 32-years of age, Robert Pattinson will become the youngest actor to portray the role of Batman on the big screen. Apart from this massive news that he may sign on as Gotham’s protector, Robert Pattinson is having a busy year already, with four movies set to be released this year in which he is starring. These include Claire Denis’ High Life, Robert Eggers’ The Lighthouse, The King for Netflix and Waiting for the Barbarians. This new role might be one of the biggest roles of his acting career.
Matt Reeves is set to release his new Batman movie on 25 June 2021. A script is still being developed, so there are no details yet in terms of storyline or plot for the upcoming new movie.
