Three months ago Kotaku reported on alegged discrimination and harassment taking place at Riot Games. It seems that there a lot more going on there than anyone knew as one former and one current employee have filed a lawsuit against the company for gender-based discrimination in violation of the California Equal Pay Act and a sexually hostile workplace.
Melanie McCracken and Jessica Negron are asking for compensation in the form of unpaid wages, as well as damages and other penalties. McCracken currently works at Riot Games and has been with the company since 2013. Negron is a former employee of the company. While there is a lot going on in the lawsuit, to summarize, the plaintiffs have reported being denied equal pay as well as bad working conditions due to ongoing sexual harassment.
“Plaintiffs have been denied equal pay and found their careers stifled because they are women. Moreover, Plaintiffs have also seen their working conditions negatively impacted because of the ongoing sexual harassment, misconduct, and bias which predominate the sexually-hostile working environment of Riot Games.
This is not the first time sexual harassment and Riot Games has been put into the same sentence. Back in August, many employees went on record to discuss their time with the developer. Riot Games then released a formal letter of apology regarding the issues at the company. Just a week later, the issues came into the light once again over a PAX West that was held only for woman and non-binary participants. This led to two developers leaving the company.
Polygon reached out to Riot Games regarding the lawsuit and they had this to say;
While we do not discuss the details of ongoing litigation, we can say that we take every allegation of this nature seriously and investigate them thoroughly.

We will have to wait and see what comes out of all this in the months to come.
