Kingdom Hearts 3 is selling very, very well and it there is no wonder why. The game is great and even though I wished for more “Kingdom Hearts” and less “Disney” I loved the experience. Check out my review of the title here.
Square Enix is boasting some pretty impressive sales numbers since the release of the game on 29 January 2019. According to a Facebook post, the game has shipped 5 million units across retail and digital stores. Thus, making Kingdom Hearts 3 the fastest selling entry in the series to date.
The shipment and digital sales numbers for the long-awaited installment in the blockbuster franchise have been matched with critical adoration. Media across the world are lauding Kingdom Hearts III for its breathtaking visuals and widespread appeal to newcomers and series veterans alike.
The game has been selling well since its release week already as within its first two days on sale in Japan, Kingdom Hearts 3 outsold Resident Evil 2 by almost three times the amount of retail copies sold. Kingdom Hearts 3 pushed 610,077 while Resident Evil 2 managed 252,848. These numbers have obviously grown tenfold since then.
But it is not all celebrations and joy as fans of the series are not completely happy with the experience. Dozens of fans are voicing their opinion about the lack of Final Fantasy characters in the game, just how easy it is and the overall slow pace that lacks action. I do agree with a lot of these issues. Of course, Square Enix will most likely release updates in the coming months to fix and patch some content as well as possible DLC to add more things to do. Regardless, the game has sold like hot cakes and we congratulate Square Enix and Disney on the successful launch.
