Apple is hosting its annual WWDC event next week Monday where the company is expected to unveil the new version of iOS 13 for hardware. There has been much speculation about iOS 13 and its features and changes and we officially have our first look at the operating system.
Leaked screenshots from 9to5Mac have risen that shows off iOS 13 dark mode as well as a few tweaks to the home page and screenshot feature. Most importantly, the dark mode seems to be system-wide and the screenshot, which shows off the music app, is completely black.
According to reports, the iOS 13 dark mode will be toggled on and off in the settings app or even in the Control Center for quick access. Apple is also said to be working on new wallpapers to make use of this mode.
Why is dark mode such a big deal you may ask? Well, anyone with an iPhone X and up will benefit from it. The OLED screens mean that the pixels will be turned off where there is complete black coverage saving battery and reducing eye strain too.
Other iOS 13 changes come in the form of UI tweaks. Screenshots will have a new dock with new icons and the home page dock also seems to be darker than before. According to reports, the Reminders app will see a massive redesign too. Apple is also said to be merging “Find My iPhone” and “Find My Friends” app into one new app called “Find My”.
Of course, there most likely a lot more to iOS 13 than meets the eye. Apple will lift the lid on the entire new OS next week. Apple WWDC 2019 will take place at 19:00 on Monday, 3 June 2019. You can watch the entire keynote live on the Apple website or on your Apple TV
