Venom 2 Is Happening, With A Spider-Man Appearance

Venom 2

Venom will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on 18 December 2018, after having become a smash hit at the box offices. So, it comes as no surprise that a Venom 2 is reportedly in the works.

Co-screenwriter for the first movie, Jeff Pinker, has confirmed that a Venom 2 is indeed happening. Pinker didn’t give away too much more details surrounding the upcoming sequel. Only that it’s, in fact, happening and that he won’t be one of the writers for Venom 2.

I can’t say anything other than that it is happening.

When Pinker was pushed regarding the appearance of Spider-Man in Venom 2 or even future Venom sequels, he said that it wouldn’t be “impossible” and that Spidey will actually be playing a rather significant role in any future Venom movies.

Without revealing anything I’m not allowed to reveal. It is not impossible that in a future, upcoming Venom movie, Spider-Man will play a significant role.

The first Venom movie apparently tried (and succeeded) very hard to not feature Spider-Man or any reference to him. Now that the Venom franchise has proven itself to be able to hold its own and draw big audiences, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man might be swinging by for an appearance or even significant role in Venom 2.

So when can you expect to see a Venom 2? After the release of the first Venom movie, Marvel announced that there are two Marvel/Sony movies slated for 2020. Seeing as Venom is part of the Marvel/Sony releases, it could mean that we could be seeing a sequel on the big screens sometime in 2020, but this is all still speculation at this point. The other Marvel/Sony movie to be released in 2020 is speculated to be Jared Leto’s Morbius, the Living Vampire (not an official title for the movie) movie.

After the success of Venom as well as Sony’s latest movie, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, a Venom sequel sounds really exciting. The two companies (i.e. Marve and Sony) are obviously on a blockbuster roll and we’re super excited to see what other future projects emerge from the cool collaboration.

The first Venom movie starred Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom and Michelle Williams as Anne Weying. It was directed by Ruben Fleischer.

Would you be keen on Venom 2? In the meantime, check out the trailer for the first Venom movie to get you excited for the possibility of a sequel.
