Rumours have been circling around for a while now regarding a free-to-play Titanfall game called Apex Legends. The game has not been seen in the flesh yet but according to new word on the street, it could release to the public as soon as Monday, 4 February 2019.
According to a few reports, the game will allegedly feature the great Titanfall combat we all love from the series with unique classes, heroes, and abilities and see 60 players enter a server (with up to 3 per team) and fight each other to the death. However, some rumours also point to a mech-less game too where players will not enter and fight in any massive mechs.
According to Kotaku, Respawn even held an event for the game a few weeks ago to show off the upcoming title to media and streamers. This free-to-play Titanfall game will act as a “stopgap” while Respawn moves Titanfall 3 to a newer engine which may take some time and will delay the unannounced game.
Reports suggested that Respawn is currently working on Titanfall 3 as well as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Both of which are said to release by the end of 2019. If all the reports and rumours are true, we could have a brand new free-to-play Titanfall-like spinoff battle royale game on our gaming platform of choice in the next few days. Apex Legends will allegedly release for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
How well will it hold up against other current battle royale titles on the market? Who knows but we do hope they do not lose the epic mech combat.
