FaZe Clan is an Esports collective that has become known in the gaming as well as the pop culture world at large.
During his set at the Rolling Loud Festival in LA over the past weekend, Lil Yachty was joined on stage by members of FaZe Clan, who invited him to join the collective. The famous rapper was given his own FaZe Clan T-shirt which read “Welcome to FaZe Clan“. What Lil Yachty’s FaZe membership means, remains to be seen. The clan has collaborated with other notable people in the past, where they’re given their own line of merchandise to sell to fans.
FaZe Clan was founded in 2010 and started out with YouTube videos of players performing trick shots in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. In 2016, FaZe Clan bought a professional Counter-Strick: Global Offensive team and started entering the professional Esports arena. Since then, the gaming collective has just gotten bigger. They currently live in a mansion in the exclusive area of Hollywood Hills, have merchandising lines and have even dropped diss songs.
Lil Yachty isn’t the only rapper to love gaming. Soulja Boy has been an avid gamer for years and has recently even released his own gaming console. Drake and Hollywood manager, Scooter Braun, also recently made headlines in the gaming community when they became co-owners of the gaming collective, 100 Thieves.
As gaming continues to dominate pop culture and Esports continues to get bigger, we’re sure to see more big collaborations like this in the future.
