We are all excited for the first minor of the next Dota Pro Circuit to get underway. However, that’s not all Dota 2 fans have to look forward to. While DreamLeague Season 10 kicks off at the end of this month (29 October), ESL is looking to the future. Get ready to mark those calendars, as ESL One Katowice 2019 is coming.
In ESL One Katowice 2018, Virtus.Pro took down everyone in their path. It was truly a high-quality tournament that Dota 2 fans no doubt loved watching. The production, casting and all the teams were top-notch, which is why I think it is a little weird the tournament won’t form part of the DPC.
On that bombshell, ESL One Katowice 2019 will feature a total of 12 teams. Eight teams will get direct invites while the last four spots will have to be fought for through regional qualifiers. Regional qualifiers include Europe, NA, SEA and of course, China. The group stage will take place from 19 to 21 February 2019. Without any kind of break, the Main Event of ESL One Katowice will take place on 22 to 24 February 2019.
Once again, the tournament is set to take place in Poland with the venue as the Spodek Arena. The Senior VP of Production at ESL, Ulrich Schulze, explains that:
We are looking forward to bringing ESL One back to the legendary Spodek Arena in Katowice as part of another double weekend full of action-packed esports. Our events in Katowice are like no others, thanks to the passionate fans which travel to Poland from all over Europe and create a breath-taking atmosphere in the arena.
Dota 2 fans should mark their calendars for this one. ESL One Katowice 2019 is sure to be an amazing spectacle of Dota 2 and I, for one, simply can’t wait.
