Normally when Valve adds “festive cheer” over the holiday period I always feel like they could really do a little bit more. However, since Valve recently released the massive Danger Zone update and made Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) free-to-play, we will let this one slide. The latest CS: GO update adds that festive cheers and it is entitled Winter Wonderland. Basically, what it does is turn Militia into a winter wonderland, where you can throw snowballs, look at the snowy area, shoot each other and, of course, those chickens sporting their holiday outfits.
The CS: GO Winter Wonderland update does look pretty cool and since we got a big content drop with Danger Zone recently, we can’t really complain. Valve announces the festivities in their latest blog post, stating that:
Bundle up, it’s time to celebrate the winter season!
Toss a few snowballs and head over to snowy Militia, which is back for the holiday and currently available in Casual and Deathmatch game modes.
The C4 is all wrapped up, and chickens are sporting their finest festive wear–everyone’s getting into the holiday spirit!
For those veterans out there, Valve also released the Ten Year Veteran Coin, which is available to players who have been members of the CS community for over 10 years. To qualify for the coin, you must have owned and played a CS game 10 years ago or more. Your Steam account obviously also needs to be in good standing to review the Ten Year Veteran Coin.
Lastly, if you reach Rank 40, you will be able to reset your Profile Rank if you choose to. Valve also explained that after 1 January 2019, players will be able to receive the new 2019 Service Medal, which is an “inspectable display item that will be visible wherever your avatar is shown.”
