CS: GO Cheating Scandal Leaves Pro Team Disbanded

CS: GO Cheating Scanda

Nobody likes a cheater and we’ve seen so many people complaining about others cheating in video games. When it is an esports tournament with $100,000 at stake, then things are even more serious. Enter the eXTREMESLAND 2018 Asia Finals which recently took place. At the tournament, a CS: GO cheating scandal unfolded leaving a professional team disbanded.

The team in question is OpTic India (yes, they are part of the NA organization). Before we continue, let’s take a step back first as there’s some history to this story. Last year, Nikhil “Forsaken” Kumawat (while playing for the team SemperX) was found to be the owner of a VAC-banned Steam account during the ROG Masters 2017 South Asia Qualifier. Now, that same player has been caught cheating.

In the OpTic India versus Revolution match during eXTREMESLAND 2018 Asia Finals, the game was abruptly paused. The match was paused for 20 minutes due to a serious issue. It turns out that Nikhil “Forsaken” Kumawat was caught with hacks on his PC and according to reports he even tried to delete the hack to avoid getting caught by a referee. The Asia CS: GO news Twitter account revealed that:

It has been confirmed by eXTREMESLAND Officials that OpTic India player ‘foresaken’ has been caught with hacks on his PC. The team has been dismissed from the tournament immediately and the player will be sent home on the next flight.

Shortly after the debacle, OpTic India announced the aftermath of this CS: GO cheating scandal:

It is quite honestly terrible to see such an incident occur. Unfortunately, it looks like the old saying “once a cheater, always a cheater” definitely does apply here.
