CS: GO Bans Clock in at Nearly 1 Million for January 2019, Setting a New Record

CS: GO cheaters VAC ban Valve

Ever since the Danger Zone update for CS: GO, adding a Battle Royale mode and making the game free-to-play, a massive influx of CS: GO bans have occurred. Due to the game being free-to-play now, the floodgates for hackers and cheaters are well and truly open. In December 2018, the CS: GO bans reached an all-time high, but January 2019’s ban count completely crushed it.

In December, Valve swung its mighty banhammer, hitting a whopping 622,000 accounts. January’s CS: GO bans come in at a mind-blowing 921,404. That’s nearly 1 million CS: GO accounts that have been VAC banned last month alone. This is a massive influx, to say the least, and even now there are still reports of cheaters and hackers making the rounds. This information comes from SteamDB, showing the results for all to gander at.

Before December 2018, CS: GO bans per month never reached 200,000 and in November 2018, there were 100,000 VAC bans. This massive influx of bans has to be because the game went free-to-play, there is no doubt about that. Hopefully, Valve continues to clean up the game by swinging their mighty banhammer.

The problem here is that since the game is free-to-play, cheaters can just continue to create new accounts. Simply banning an account isn’t going to stop them from creating new once and ruining the experience for others. Hopefully, Valve will implement more safeguard to keep those nasty cheaters away.

What do you think about the massive influx of CS: GO bans and could it reach 1 million bans this month? Let us know in the comment section below.
