As the highly-anticipated Borderlands 3 release date comes ever closer, new Borderlands 2 DLC is rumoured to be released as a bridge to the upcoming game. According to a trusted source, the new downloadable content for Borderlands 2 will be released at E3 2019.
The new Borderlands 2 DLC is reportedly meant to bridge the gap between the end of Borderlands 2, which was released in 2012 and the beginning of Borderlands 3, which is set for release in September 2019.
The expansion for Borderlands 2 will apparently be called Commander Lilith and the Fight for Sanctuary and is expected to be available for download during E3 2019, which runs from 11 to 14 June. Insiders are speculating that the rumoured title for the DLC suggests that it will be giving players early insight into the rise of the Children of the Vault. It could also serve as a backstory to explain how many of the popular Borderlands characters end up on the new inter-planetary spaceship called Sanctuary 3. As the rumoured title contains the word “Sanctuary”, this seems very likely.
Adding to that, isn’t it curious that Borderlands 3’s new ship-turned-home-base is called Sanctuary 3, yet there isn’t historically a Borderlands location called Sanctuary 2?
If these reports are true, then players will be able to get caught up (and hyped up) for the release of Borderlands 3 later this year, which is a cool way for Gearbox Software to draw in players for the upcoming game.
